BRG members get the chance to present their business and share expertise
Every BRG member gets the opportunity at least once a year to showcase their goods or services as the featured speaker at a luncheon meeting. These presentations also give us the opportunity to better educate members how they can do business with us, what our perfect referral is, and give one another updates on new developments and ideas in our profession.

We learn more about our fellow members during these presentations. BRG attorneys (several categories) give us tips on legal issues we need to know that could have a major impact on our bottom line. Our insurance specialists help us through the confusing issues of buying business and personal insurance, one of our biggest challenges today. The BRG travel agent gives us the inside track on great deals on cruises and trips. BRG medical professionals give us health advice that help us live longer, better lives or solve immediate medical problems.

Members regularly seek advice from one another on topics of concern or interest prior to engaging the consultant and before incurring professional fees. Most professionals offer free initial consultations to BRG members or referrals.

BRG is a living resource of information and education to us as business professionals and individuals.

FIU President-Designate Mark B. Rosenberg

Florida International University President-Designate Mark B. Rosenberg, Ph.D. – the first FIU faculty member to ascend to the presidency – will speak to the Business Referral Group (BRG) on Tuesday, June 16, at BRG’s regular weekly luncheon meeting at noon at Anacapri on Ponce, 2530 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Coral Gables.

For reservations to hear President-Designate Rosenberg, or to attend any of the regular meetings or obtain membership information, contact Louise Gross of Wylly’s Travel at 786-268-2779 or Julie Rico of Rainbow Reproductions at 305-968-9341.

Dr. Rosenberg, who was chancellor for the Board of Governors of the State University System of Florida from 2005 to 2008, has more than 30 years of higher education experience. The SUS enrolls more than 300,000 students, employs 10,000 faculty members and operates an $8 billion budget. As chancellor, Dr. Rosenberg led the system’s strategic development, financial planning and policy initiatives, working closely with the governor and the legislature.

As an FIU assistant professor of political science, Dr. Rosenberg founded the university’s Latin American and Caribbean Center in 1976. Today LACC is one of the nation’s premier federally supported research and teaching centers focusing on the region. After serving as the founding dean of the FIU College of Urban and Public Affairs and vice provost for international studies, Dr. Rosenberg was the FIU provost and executive vice president for academic affairs from 1998 to 2005.

Active in state economic development throughout his career, he has been part of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce leadership team for the last decade, still serving on the board of governors. Dr. Rosenberg has written or co-edited seven books and scholarly articles. His latest book, The United States and Central America: Geopolitical Realities and Regional Fragility, is a Harvard University project co-authored with Luis Guillermo Solis of Costa Rica. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, he has testified before Congress several times and served as a consultant to the Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development.

He earned his B.A. degree from Miami University of Ohio and his Ph.D. in political science with a graduate certificate in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from the University of Pittsburgh in 1976.
